Golden Hour Desert Family Photos
Well, firstly the golden hour happens twice a day, so there isn’t just one hour a day devoted to this gorgeous light.
The “Golden Hour” occurs in the hour after sunrise and the hour before sunset.
Second, it’s not specific to one hour. The time and duration of the golden hour will depend on where in the world you are.
There’s a different feeling for each golden hour:
Morning golden hour is fresh and the world is waking up to start a new day, light, free, energized.
Evening golden hour is a peaceful winding down at the end of the day, cozy, warm, rich.
Choose the golden hour that suits what feeling you want to create in your final images.
If I had to choose just one:
I will always pick evening golden hour. I love the rich tones, gives everything it touches a beautiful gold dusting of light.
The light really does play a role in documenting emotion.
You know that warm glow from the sun in the late afternoon, it usually happens here in Phoenix Arizona around 5:30-6:30 depending on the time of year.
In Arizona, we don’t have daylight savings like the rest of the country, but our days do get longer in the summer so keep that in mind when booking your family session.
